On Thursday, 27th July, ten SAE students and external users joined in London for the first UK edition of the SAE Challenges.

They had to produce a track from scratch in 30 minutes using Ableton Live. The best production won a Live 11 Suite.

In this first edition, we collaborated with Ableton UK for a competition dedicated to the Electronic music producers on Ableton Live. The winner and the runner-up won an Ableton Live 11 and a Live 11 Standard license. The attendees could join a dedicated masterclass with Mel-Uye Parker, songwriter, vocalist, Electronic music producer, and Ableton Certified Trainer.

how the challenges worked

🎹 The Challenge:

  • Against the clock – the contestants had 30 minutes to create a track.
  • They could use our workstations equipped with Ableton Live and Roland Cloud synthesisers.
  • Compete with other people.

📣 All the contestants could get professional feedback and guidance on their Electronic music production.

🎁 Gifts and drinks were available to boost networking and peer review.

Those who are not producers could attend as viewers and meet the students, alumni and industry professionals.

The event was possible thanks to the help of Antonio De Robertis, Matt Cooke, Charlotte Duggan, Giusi Belmonte, Ben Harding, Brendan Embra and Rita Wairia.
