Financial support to help you succeed
We understand that the cost of studying can feel like a barrier, which is why additional financial support may be available to help you during your time at SAE.
Bursaries are non-repayable awards provided to eligible students who meet specific criteria. Depending on the support available and your individual circumstances, funding could help with study-related costs, essential living expenses or unexpected financial difficulties.
Eligibility may be based on factors such as household income, personal circumstances or your course of study. Explore our current bursaries and financial support options below to find out what is available and how to apply.
Bursaries and Support Available for 2026/27
Value: up to £900 per academic year.
Number Available: limited to allocation of funds, refreshed each semester
What is the Additional Support Fund?
The Additional Support Fund provides financial assistance for students in extremely difficult financial circumstances. The fund is designed to support undergraduate students with ‘Home’ status, who need financial help to meet costs that cannot be met from other sources of income.
The Fund will be open during the months of November 2025 and December 2025, March 2026 and April 2026 and July 2026 and August 2026. A payment can be available to students to help them with the cost of food, bills, travel to SAE, internet and technology including a contribution towards the cost of a laptop (for those students who do not have equipment to access online learning
at home).
Other essential provisions can include prescriptions and medication and support towards the cost of a hostel or travel to a safe space for students who are made homeless.
Eligibility
Funding is currently available for the following groups of students:
- Care Leavers and Care Experienced students.
- Estranged students and therefore assessed as Independent by the Student Loans Company.
- Students from low socio-economic households (under £30,000 as assessed by the Student Loans Company).
Value: £300 per trimester
What is the My SAE Bursary?
The My SAE Bursary is designed to support students whilst they undertake undergraduate study. The bursary aims to help reduce the necessity of employment during their time at SAE, helping them to focus on their studies. It can be used to support the purchase of equipment or other living costs
This bursary is available for the duration of your course and, if eligible, students will receive up to £300 per trimester. The expected timeline for payments can be found in the terms and conditions. Payments will come directly from Student Finance.
There is no application process for this bursary, your application to Student Finance England will trigger this bursary, assuming the criteria set out below is met. Eligible students will be UK-domiciled, studying on an SAE undergraduate programme and have a household income of less than £30,000.
Eligibility
Students will only be eligible for an award if they meet the following criteria:
- A household income of less than £30,000.00, which will be evidenced via your application to the Student Loans Company.
b. A UK domicile undergraduate student.
c. Receiving Student Finance funding.
d. Students who have not applied for Student Finance due to religious reasons*.
e. Scottish Students who are self-funding due to being ineligible for Student Finance in Glasgow*.
f. Enrolled on a full-time programme on campus at SAE.
g. Not retaking a year of study.
Current students will also be eligible if not repeating a year. You will be automatically enrolled for this bursary via your Student Finance application – assuming you’ve met the relevant conditions set-out above.
*If you are not using Student Finance due to the reasons noted in points (d) and (e) and think you are otherwise eligible for the My SAE Bursary, then please complete via the application form below.
