SAE INSTITUTE QUALITY MANUAL

The SAE Institute (UK) Quality Manual forms the framework for the provision and maintenance of academic quality and standards for all programmes offered by SAE Institute at the following campuses:

  • Glasgow
  • Liverpool
  • Leamington Spa
  • London
  • Leeds

The quality manual outlines all regulations, policies and procedures that govern all teaching and learning at SAE Institute in the United Kingdom. In addition, SAE Institute publishes further guidelines, handbooks and programme requirements that are made available to students upon commencement of study.

The protection of the student interest is central to SAE UK’s planning and operational philosophy. To this end, and like all other English providers of higher education, we have developed a student protection plan which has been approved by the Office for Students (OfS).

The purpose of this plan is to preserve the continuation and quality of study for all of our students whenever a risk to their continued study crystallises. The plan is tailored to our specific circumstances and includes an assessment of the risks to the continuation of study of our students, the likelihood that those risks will crystallise, and the severity of the impact on students should the risks crystallise.

In all cases, we have made a commitment to offer students advice and support in the event that any of the risks to the continuation of study crystallise, and we have separately published our refund and compensation policy for cases where it is not possible to preserve continuation of study.

Finally, this plan is revised regularly to ensure that the risk assessment remains current and the mitigating measures remain practicable, relevant and effective.

Like many other institutions in the education sector, SAE Institute encounters numerous novel challenges within its operations due to the increasing proliferation of AI tools. While the emergence of AI brings forth many advantages, it also presents SAE Institute with various hurdles, including the risk of academic misconduct.

SAE Institute’s educational approach emphasises both creative output and conventional methods of academic presentation, making it susceptible to disruptions across its academic operations. This paper aims to highlight these challenges and elaborate on SAE’s strategies for monitoring and evaluating AI’s use and potential misuse within our academic practices.

SAE proposes a balanced and thoughtful approach to incorporating AI tools into our organisation whilst maintaining a strong focus on academic integrity and the importance of true human creativity.
