SAE partners with Liverpool Sound City 2025

SAE Liverpool was delighted to once again collaborate with music event Liverpool Sound City as Lead Creative Education Partner.

This year’s partnership with Sound City included naming rights for a dedicated stage with two daily SAE student band slots, as well as a diverse student experience programme, career development opportunities, and work placements.

These were within the Audio, Film, and Music Business management sectors, closely linked to the Sound City Festival and Conference.

Selected artists to perform included Bl!SS, Fresh Flowz, Kites and Jamelia Kirabo, known as artist Kiyomiii Cherry.

Commenting, Jamelia said: “Words can’t describe the joy I felt when I was chosen to be apart of Sound City, the experience itself was groundbreaking for me and I’m still thankful to SAE for allowing me to experience the amazing festival.”

“I was selected to audition for it at the Arts Bar and at first I thought I was dreaming because I had forgotten about my application. After passing the audition I knew I had to bring my A game and I learned that going out of your comfort zone always ends up being a magical moment to remember and create amazing memories.”

SAE Liverpool partnered with Liverpool Sound City in 2025.

Foluto Borbiety, who performs as Fresh, said: “It was an amazing experience, the energy and the crowd interaction, the team had a good time and we are hoping to play again next year, maybe a bigger stage this time.”

Elsewhere, students had the opportunity to work in various administrative and content creation roles to support Liverpool Sound City.

Ryta Portnova, Content Creation and Online Marketing student, worked in the event office.

She said: “I helped with video editing for conferences, created video presentations for speakers and assisted the organisation of the first day of the festival including hanging up posters and greeting guests.  It was a wonderful and very interesting experience.”

SAE Liverpool partnered with music industry event, Liverpool Sound City.

SAE also hosted a panel as part of Liverpool Sound City’s conference called Attack of the Robot Songwriters.

Featuring Professor Ace Kent, Professor Sophie Daniels, artist Naomi Campbell and Dacci’s Rachel Lyske, the session brought these leading industry figures together to debate the impact AI is currently having on the craft of songwriting.

Ace said: “I hosted a panel on AI songwriting and checked out so much amazing music, it was a beautiful day. We had a really fun weekend and it was great to part of the festival.”

Well done to everyone involved in this year’s event.
