DIReCTING FEARLESS STORIES
Sarah Grant is a Glasgow-based writer, director and performer dedicated to telling inclusive, feminist, and body-positive stories. Her work spans BAFTA-qualifying shorts, digital commissions for BBC The Social and BBC Short Stuff, and her debut feature film Fight Me, currently in post-production, starring Sharon Rooney and Peter Mullen.
Industry Experience
Sarah’s short-form work has amassed tens of millions of views across digital and social platforms. Her documentary Big Moves was nominated for a Grierson Award in 2024, and she was nominated for Best Director at the RTS Scotland Awards 2024 for her mid-form drama pilot with BBC Scotland. She has won Best Short Form at RTS Scotland Awards for her sketch comedy work and continues to develop projects with BBC Studios, Candle and Bell, and Northbridge Media.
She has also been part of prestigious creative labs, including Bridging the Gap, BBC Comedy Bursary, Young Films Residency, BAFTA Flare, and BBC Voices Scotland, cementing her reputation as a rising voice in contemporary Scottish filmmaking.
Creative Philosophy
As a working-class, queer woman, Sarah understands the power of representation and the importance of telling stories that are often overlooked. She believes every person’s story is worthy of the big screen and works to ensure that her students learn to create films that are honest, fearless, and socially meaningful.
Guiding Creatives
Sarah combines her experience as a practitioner with her passion for teaching. She mentors students in writing, directing, and performance, encouraging them to explore narratives that challenge norms, celebrate diversity, and push boundaries.
