FAQs for Starting Audio in January 2026
The January intake lets you begin the BA/BSc (Hons) Audio Production degree in January instead of waiting for the traditional September start, so you can begin sooner, graduate sooner and enter the industry earlier.
The course is an accelerated 2-year programme. It’s the same qualification as a traditional 3-year degree, but saves you a full year of time, reduces your tuition fees and living costs. You’ll study through an intensive, practical schedule that reflects real-world audio work and be prepared to enter the industry ahead of students who’ve opted for the 3-year route.
You will learn recording, mixing, mastering, post-production, live sound, sound design, immersive audio and game-audio workflows. You’ll be trained in professional recording studio environments, using industry-standard desks and equipment from manufacturers such as Neve, SSL and Audient. Your core DAW/software skills will focus on Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live and FMOD.
The degree is delivered in person at SAE London in Haggerston, with access to our industry-standard recording studios, production suites, edit rooms and live-sound spaces.
Your lecturers are industry-active producers, engineers and sound designers who continue to work professionally and bring real experience into the classroom.
Graduates progress into music production, mixing, studio engineering, sound design for media, live audio, touring production, game audio, post-production and immersive audio roles.
Yes, the course is developed, delivered and assessed by SAE Institute and awarded by the University of Hertfordshire, ensuring recognised academic standards.
Yes, eligible UK students can apply for full student finance support for both the 2-year and 3-year versions of the degree.

Experience is helpful but not essential. If you do not meet the standard entry requirements, you can submit a creative portfolio to demonstrate your potential.
