Crafting Game Worlds
Caroline Large is a Game Art & Animation Lecturer at SAE Liverpool with a career shaped by iconic studios, boundary-pushing creativity and a lifelong passion for worldbuilding. From early PlayStation titles to atmospheric action-adventures, she has helped shape the look, feel and tone of games millions have played.
Her work blends technical skill, artistic instinct and a love for narrative, giving students a powerful mix of experience and inspiration.
Industry Legacy
Caroline’s career includes working with the original Tomb Raider team at Core Design on their final project together, Project Eden, where she built entire levels – from texturing and lighting to environmental triggering.
She created football sprites using motion capture for Striker on PlayStation and defined the artistic style and mood for Shadowman at Acclaim. She has brought her talent to major studios including Domark, Rage Software, Iguana/Acclaim, and Core Design/Eidos.

Caroline loves everything about game development: the creativity, the tech, the evolution of tools, and the brilliant people behind it all. Her enthusiasm is infectious: she’s a perfectionist, a lifelong learner and someone who genuinely loves building worlds, characters and ideas from the ground up.
