It’s been a busy few weeks for our Glasgow film and audio students, who have been working alongside some of the industry’s best to produce UK cult web drama Cops and Monsters.
Students were quickly put under the spotlight, gaining hands-on set experience as boom operators, location and lighting technicians with Silly Wee Films productions.
But it wasn’t all hard work and no play. Students had fun mixing it with BBC film veterans, while gaining professional IMDB and episode credits.
Cops and Monsters piloted in the 2014 and follows the cases of the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland (PITS) as they protect and battle vampires, werewolves and zombies in a near-future Scotland.
Series director Fraser Coull was also full of praise for our talented students, inviting them back to work on future episodes.
"It was great to have the students from SAE on our set for Cops and Monsters episode 5, they were eager to learn and our crew made good use of them, making sure they could see the process of being on set and making an indie web-series.
It's so important as a student in TV and Film to gain practical set experience and learn the etiquette and procedures that follow as you don't get taught it when unleashed into the world of professional productions."
The ongoing series, which features stars from Harry Potter, Captain America and Doctor Who, has also won a string of awards with SciFiNow Magazine touting it as a “show you must be watching.”
