For most graduates the idea of travelling around the world is just a fantasy. But for one former SAE student, her dreams of trekking the globe and DJing is now a reality.
Rebecca Godfrey studied Electronic Music Production at SAE London before being signed to Second State - a Berlin-based record label set up by SAE alumni. She’s since moved to the German capital, and has toured Europe, America, Asia and South Africa.
“My first gig abroad was at Watergate in Berlin, before I was living there,” Rebecca told SAE.
“I remember being really nervous but once I settled into my set, I had such an amazing time and met so many people that ended up being very important people in my career and life!”
Last year Rebecca launched her first EP, which she describes as a huge career highlight.
“I had been working so hard towards it for a whole year. I sent so many tracks to the label which were rejected, as it was still early days with producing and using the skills I had learnt at SAE. In the end when my tracks were finally accepted, hence why I named the EP "Relentless".”
Her music has received widespread support from established DJs including Pan-Pot, Adam Beyer, Monika Kruse, Sasha and Nicole Moudaber, inspiring the young artist to continue making music.
“I can't describe the feeling I've got from this - it makes my hair stand on end!”
