Mixing Sound for the Stage
Tom Parker is an Audio Lecturer at SAE Liverpool with experience across live sound, theatre, touring productions and large-scale events. His career spans everything from major concert halls to international conferences, giving him a broad perspective on how audio works in real-world environments.
Live Sound Highlights
Tom has worked on live stream audio for Giants Live at the Royal Albert Hall and toured through some of the UK’s most prominent theatres and music venues, including De Montfort Hall, The Lowry and the Liverpool Philharmonic. He also recorded the only live performance of the album The Hustlers Convention, capturing a unique moment in music history.
Industry Experience
Alongside touring and live production, Tom has worked across a range of professional contexts. He recorded and edited former Liverpool footballer John Barnes’s audiobook and delivered audio support for events and conferences with some of the UK’s leading retailers.
He also works as the front-of-house engineer for one of the country’s biggest tribute acts, The ELO Show, managing live sound for large audiences across the UK.
Technical Expertise
Tom is a Dante Mastery Technician and holds certification in L-Acoustics systems and workflow. His technical training, combined with hands-on industry experience, allows him to operate confidently across a wide range of audio environments.
Guiding Engineers
Tom enjoys applying technical and creative skills in completely different contexts. His varied career across live sound, theatre, touring and corporate events allows him to give students a realistic view of the industry and the many paths available within it.
He encourages students to stay adaptable, build strong technical foundations and embrace the variety that a career in audio can offer.
