SHAPING SONIC EXPERIENCES
Rotem Haguel is an Audio Lecturer at SAE London whose work explores the meeting point between creativity, technology and contemplation. With a PhD in Music focused on how modular synthesizers can create reflective listening experiences, he brings both academic insight and hands-on expertise to his teaching.
Industry Experience
As a performer and musical director, Rotem has collaborated with artists such as Jai Paul, Låpsley, Berwyn, Brooke Bentham and Soo Joo. His production and recording work includes releases with Semi Precious, Genevieve Dawson and Rick Leigh. Under his experimental alias, JL Segel, he has performed live across London – including a show supporting Barker – and is part of the artist-led collective Unravel, known for immersive audio-visual events.
Creative Focus
Rotem’s practice merges research and experimentation. He’s fascinated by the way technology shapes human creativity, using hardware and modular synthesisers to push the boundaries of sound design and composition. He encourages students to challenge convention, listen deeply and find meaning through sound.

As both educator and practitioner, Rotem aims to make complex ideas in sound and technology accessible. His teaching blends academic rigour with creative exploration, helping students discover their own processes and voices as audio professionals.
