Designing Creative Stories
Dave Hall is a Lecturer in Communication Design at SAE London. A multi-award-winning writer-director, web designer and creative polymath, he brings together film, theatre, music and technology to explore how stories can move people across mediums.
His first feature film, Passing Through, was released in 2025 and is now available on Prime Video in the UK. Earlier highlights include directing his stage play Cross Road Blues at the Hackney Empire, complete with a 20-voice choir and live blues band.
Creative Highlights
As a web designer, Dave has collaborated with seven-time Grammy-winning musician Jacob Collier, as well as global NGOs including Resilience Rising and the COP Resilience Hub. In film and theatre, he has directed award-winning actors such as Mark Little and worked with artists including Imogen Stubbs, Sophie Solomon and Julian Joseph.
Design Projects
Alongside his teaching, Dave continues to experiment with digital creativity. His side projects include Scrrraps, a quirky WordPress plugin, and Timebomb.today, a time-management web app he built and uses daily. These projects reflect his love of problem-solving through design and technology.
Creative Approach
Dave’s background in philosophy, coding, design and the arts shapes his teaching style. He believes creativity thrives at the intersection of ideas and disciplines, encouraging students to combine logic with imagination and always stay curious.
