SAE Gaming students were among the industry professionals attending the Gamebridge event to showcase their work and network.
Taking place at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, the event is specifically aimed at further and higher education students and graduates looking for a career in the games industry.
The event is split into three different strands – 1:1 folio reviews, industry talks and showcases and awards.
Commenting, Game Design Lecturer Hamie Nouri said: “Participating in events like Gamebridge is incredibly valuable for student career growth. These experiences allow them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, build practical skills, and create portfolio-worthy projects with immediate feedback from industry, key factors in standing out to employers.”
SAE gaming student Tony-John Payne was among those emerging game developers who presented a project at the event. His game DareDevil is a hand-to-hand combat brawler set in Hell’s Kitchen.
Hamie added: “Beyond technical abilities, students develop soft skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving while networking with peers, mentors, and industry professionals. Many opportunities, from internships to job offers, arise from connections made at such events.”
“These events expose students to industry trends, boost confidence through hands-on challenges, and provide visibility to recruiters. For competitive fields like game development, participation demonstrates initiative and passion, which can be decisive in career progression. Every project, pitch, or conversation is a step toward professional advancement.”
