LONDON 2024 PANEL SERIES

IMSTA is proud to host another exciting panel series during IMSTA FESTA London 2024, featuring industry leaders and their fresh perspectives on music production.

We are pleased to announce that Jake Gosling will deliver the keynote speech at IMSTA FESTA London on June 1 at the SAE Institute. Jake is a multi-platinum selling, double GRAMMY and double Brit Award nominated music producer, songwriter, remixer, label manager and publisher best known for his work with artists Ed Sheeran , Shawn Mendes, The Libertines, One Direction , Paloma Faith, Shania Twain and KSI. He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays keys, drums, accordion, melodeon, percussion and more but, making ‘beats’ and playing with samples is what he does best. Jake has his own studio, Sticky Studios, in Surrey, UK and runs an indie record label, Goldun Egg Records. More recently, he has been working with the likes of Central Cee, Digga D, Venbee, Arrdee, Tion Wayne, Dlyan, 24kGoldn.

The advent of object-based audio has opened up completely new formats for consumer consumption of music. All of a sudden you don’t need to know what the configuration of the consumer’s playback system is; that will all be taken care of on their end so for the first-time immersive music has become a mainstream consumable. This is a sea change in not only the audio formats themselves, but the process of creating and mixing commercial music releases. In this Master Class, Andrew will cover not only the current state of object-based audio production, but also the triumphs and tribulations of trying to integrate an entirely new workflow into the more than hundred-year-old tradition of channel based playback for music. To be thrown into the deep end with no best practices, swiftly changing technologies and standards, and limited tools and budgets, this impacts not only the mechanical process of creating consumer content, but also the creative creation of music in the first place.

Andrew Scheps is an American mix engineer, recording engineer, record producer, and record label owner, based in Los Angeles and the United Kingdom. He received Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album for his work on Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Stadium Arcadium, Album of the Year for Adele’s 21, and Best Reggae Album for Ziggy Marley’s Fly Rasta.

Overview: With a keen focus on enabling music producers to evolve into music industry professionals, this workshop aims to empower and educate music producers by making them aware of a variety of ways that they could be making money with their skills. The presentation not only explores the compositional and recording rights associated with being a music producer but also offers an insight into a multi-tiered approach to remote work in the gig economy, sample pack and sample library production work, emerging possibilities within the AI field and creative collaboration.
