SAE Institute will accept non-standard entry applications, which do not meet the 72 UCAS points or equivalent, and/or maths/English at level 2 or equivalent as required:
Students whose first language is not English will need a qualification that demonstrates competence in English, equivalent to UK GCSE (Level 2) grade 4 (c) or above.
Equivalent qualifications can be accepted, where these qualifications have been verified by ENIC and are adopted widely within the UK Higher Education sector, including:
- International ESOL C1 Expert – pass in all four components
- International ESOL SELT B2 (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) – minimum 33 in all components
- ESOL Integrated Skills in English II – pass in all components

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM YOUR Audio Production DEGREE?
SAE’s BA BSc Hons Audio Production is designed for students who want to understand, create and shape sound across all creative media. You will learn the technical foundations behind audio engineering alongside the creative artistry of music production and sound design.
From your first trimester, you will be recording artists, mixing tracks, producing electronic music and working with sound for film, TV and animation. You will use industry standard equipment and software across professional studio environments.
This is a hands-on, practical-first degree, ideal for learners who want to experiment, take risks and learn by doing. You will receive constant support and personalised feedback in small class groups, developing the technical confidence and creative flair needed in today’s audio industries.

No, all core gear is provided, although many students bring personal headphones, MIDI gear or instruments.

Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, industry-standard plug-ins, DAWs, sound design tools and project management tools.
Will I have access to DAW software outside of campus?
Yes. You can access DAW software for free on campus. When working off campus, you’ll also be able to take advantage of student discounts to purchase or subscribe to DAW software for personal use.
