Pedro Batalha
Sound Designer | Audio Alumni
Bio
SAE London Audio Production alumnus Pedro Batalha has built an impressive career across production sound, post-production and film audio since graduating from SAE Institute UK nearly three years ago. After initially freelancing across a variety of projects including short films, commercials and independent productions, Pedro later returned to SAE, continuing to balance professional freelance work alongside his role on campus.
Since graduating, Pedro has worked across sound recording, sound editing, mixing and post-production for a range of productions. His credits include internal commercial work for major global brands including Amazon, Vodafone and Sanofi, where he worked on high-level productions involving senior executives and corporate communications. Alongside commercial work, Pedro has also contributed to multiple short films, feature films and post-production projects within collaborative audio teams.
One of Pedro’s most exciting recent opportunities came through his work on the “Ronaldinho: The One and Only” documentary project, later released through Netflix. Pedro was brought onto the project through industry contacts he had built across previous productions, highlighting the importance of networking within the film and audio industries. Initially hired to record an interview with former England footballer Danny Mills in London, Pedro later travelled to record Ronaldinho’s son for the documentary as part of an international production team spanning London, Barcelona and Brazil.
Alongside documentary work, Pedro has also worked across creative sound projects including sound redesigns, post-production for festival-bound short films, and feature film Foley editing. One recent project, “Maxxed Out”, explored the extreme online trend of “maxxing”, while other productions such as “My Ego Told Me Not To” and “Such a Vivid Imagination” further expanded his experience across narrative film production.
Pedro credits SAE with giving him both the technical foundations and industry mindset needed to succeed professionally. Access to professional-grade studios, equipment and practical recording environments allowed him to build confidence and develop hands-on experience before entering the industry. He also emphasises how important it is for students to make full use of the facilities available to them while studying.
For Pedro, networking is one of the most important aspects of building a sustainable creative career, but he believes technical ability and professionalism are equally critical. His advice to students is simple: be reliable, be prepared, and say yes to opportunities whenever possible. In a competitive industry, he believes the students who succeed are the ones who consistently show initiative, build strong relationships and fully commit to developing their craft.
