Pavel Telica

Producer, Artist & Co-Founder, The Office Recording Studios
London

Bio

SAE London Audio Production alumnus Pavel Telica has built a diverse career across music production, composition and performance within the jazz hip-hop scene. In the years following graduation, he focused on expanding his portfolio across multiple areas of audio – composing music, working in sound design, mixing and mastering, and contributing to live sound projects.

During this early period, Pavel composed music for a project broadcast on BBC Global and worked as a sound designer on a Latvian feature-length animated film. At the same time, a creative breakthrough came through his own music releases.

Alongside fellow SAE alumnus Teo Marangon, Pavel co-founded the lo-fi jazz hip-hop project Doctor Gosso & the Samplers. After their first single attracted hundreds of thousands of streams, the duo decided to pursue the project more seriously. Over the past six years Pavel has released music both under his artist name Telica and as part of the Doctor Gosso collective, generating more than five million streams, receiving airplay on the BBC Radio, and securing placements on major editorial playlists such as Jazz UK.

As the project evolved, Doctor Gosso grew into a wider collective of jazz hip-hop artists performing regularly at venues across London, including 91 Living Room. Alongside releasing his own work, Pavel also produces and records instrumentation for artists within the London music scene.

One of Pavel’s proudest achievements has been having two of his songs included on Spotify’s Best of Jazz 2022 and Best of Jazz 2023 compilations, as well as the influential Jazz UK playlist. For Pavel, the recognition from the editorial curators behind these playlists represented a powerful sense of belonging within the UK jazz scene.

Most recently, Pavel reached another milestone by co-founding The Office Recording Studios with Teo Marangon. The East London studio serves as both a professional recording environment and a creative playground for artists, reflecting their shared passion for collaboration and analogue-inspired production.

Pavel credits SAE with helping him build the creative community that shaped his career. Many of the collaborators and friends he met during his studies remain key partners in his projects today. His advice to aspiring creatives within the SAE realm is:

“Take a leap of faith and go all in. Meet like minded people, experiment, go out of your zone of comfort, go through all possible motions and upon leaving these doors I can guarantee you will know better where you stand and what you actually want.”

His advice to students is to stay proactive, experiment widely and take on as many projects as possible – even before feeling fully ready – as hands-on experience and relationships are essential in the constantly evolving music industry.
