Paul Ewing
Video Producer at Bauer Media’s Clyde 1
			Bio
SAE Glasgow Film Production alumnus Paul Ewing has built a dynamic career across corporate filmmaking, live events, and broadcast media, now thriving as a Video Producer at Bauer Media’s Clyde 1.
Since graduating in 2020, Paul has worked on a diverse range of projects spanning educational content, brand storytelling, and live music coverage. His creative journey has taken him from international corporate productions to award-winning local broadcasts, showcasing the versatility and professionalism honed during his time at SAE.
Paul began his career at Twig Education, where he colour graded and edited educational videos. The role, which grew from a short-term contract into a longer tenure, provided invaluable experience in post-production workflows and collaboration with major partners such as the BBC. A highlight was enhancing footage from the BBC’s broadcast-level archive – an experience that deepened his understanding of visual storytelling and technical precision.
His next step took him to Media Zoo, a leading creative communications agency, where he advanced from video editor to producer-editor. This role expanded his responsibilities to include client pitching and creative direction, giving him the chance to apply his filmmaking expertise in a fast-paced commercial environment. A memorable project saw him travel to Switzerland to film a major summer event, managing rapid-turnaround content creation while capturing the spirit of the occasion – a moment that underscored the exciting, travel-rich opportunities within his field.
Transitioning into freelance work, Paul built a diverse portfolio across corporate films, live music shoots, and short-form storytelling, before joining Bauer Media’s Clyde 1 as a Video Producer. For Paul, a proud Glaswegian, contributing to such an iconic local station marks a full-circle moment. His work has included filming intimate live sessions with artists like Franz Ferdinand, covering major festivals including TRNSMT and Belladrum, and collaborating closely with Clyde 1 presenters to produce engaging visual content for broadcast and online platforms.
Within his first year at Clyde 1, Paul and his team received an industry award for their work – a career highlight that recognised both his creative skill and collaborative spirit.
Some of Paul’s career highlights include:
- Editing and grading educational content for Twig Education using BBC broadcast archives
- Producing and directing corporate video content for major international clients at Media Zoo
- Shooting live music performances and festival coverage for Clyde 1
- Contributing to an award-winning video production team at Bauer Media within his first year
- Transitioning from freelance filmmaker to full-time producer in one of Scotland’s most recognised broadcast brands
Paul credits SAE Glasgow with giving him both the creative foundation and technical confidence to succeed in the film industry. The hands-on, project-based learning approach helped him build a strong portfolio and develop the practical skills he relies on daily – from editing and colour grading to on-set production management. He quotes:
“SAE gave me the confidence to pursue a creative career and the ability to back it up with practical examples of my work,” Paul says. “The hands-on approach was invaluable and gave me the skills I still rely on in my role today.”
His advice for future SAE students is:
“Commit to the course 100 per cent. The intensity of the condensed curriculum is tough but rewarding. If you can rise to the challenge, you won’t regret it.”
