Paul Pringle
Audio Production Lecturer
Bio
Paul is originally a self-taught producer/engineer/composer. He began to learn his craft from the age of 13 playing guitar with friends in early bands. He then began experimenting with tape machines and early sequencers and spent many years figuring out how midi and other various studio technology worked. Afterwards, he continued to produce and release records primarily in electronic dance music throughout the 1990’s having success with various well established record labels. This led to running his own record label with a group of friends achieving critical success with the high quality of releases from his own projects and other various artists.
This period was highlighted by achieving a Number one position in the Billboard charts. In 2003 he decided to step away from the dance music scene and began to further his education with the ambition to expand into composing music for film, a long-time passion for Paul. He started with a degree in composition and performance focusing on classical guitar performance, graduating in 2006. After completing this he moved to Bournemouth in 2007 to study audio post-production with the ambition of achieving a much-coveted place in the NFTS the following year. This was achieved in 2008 and so after many years studying, Paul graduated from the (NFTS) in 2010 with an MA in composing for Film and TV.
After all this study and with a wish to do some travelling, Paul moved to Asia (working between the Philippines and Hong Kong) for 2 years to work as in house composer for a well-established Film studio facility as well as soaking up the many beaches, tiki bars and lifestyle. He composed music for various films and TV series, worked on sound design and re-recording/dubbing mixing for various projects. Since returning to the UK in 2012, Paul has been working on various films and continues to produce music for himself and others as well as expanding his knowledge into working in Dolby Atmos. His love for film, music and storytelling is a deep-rooted driving force. He is an eternal student of these forms as there is always something fascinating and new to learn.
