Bio

From Studio to Screen

Paul Pringle is an Audio Lecturer at SAE Liverpool and a composer, producer and engineer with a career spanning chart-topping dance music, film composition and international studio work. Originally self-taught, Paul began experimenting with guitars, tape machines and early sequencers as a teenager, developing the technical curiosity and creative independence that still define his work today.

Throughout the 1990s, he produced and released electronic music on major labels, building a reputation for high-quality releases and innovative production.

Chart Success

Paul achieved a number one position on the US Billboard charts with the dance act Desert. His music has been signed to respected labels including Mute, Yoshitoshi, Twisted Records USA and Stress Records. During this period, he also ran his own label, Glow Records, releasing critically acclaimed material from both his own projects and other artists.

He has also worked on music for Sony’s Wipeout game, Channel 4 television projects and remixed tracks for artists including Depeche Mode.

Film Composition

In 2003, Paul stepped away from the dance music scene to pursue a long-time ambition of composing for film. After completing a degree in music and performance, he studied audio post-production before earning a place at the prestigious National Film and Television School.

He graduated in 2010 with an MA in Composing for Film and Television, adding to his earlier MA in Audio Post Production and BA in Music and Music Technology.

His film work has received international recognition, including:

  • Winner, Best Film, AAMA Awards and Durban International Film Festival for Rattlesnakes

  • Winner, Best Film, AMMA Film Festival for Precipice

  • Nomination, Best Short Film, Cannes Film Festival for Boy Who Wanted to Be a Lion

International Experience

After graduating, Paul spent two years working in Asia between the Philippines and Hong Kong as an in-house composer for a major film studio. During this time, he composed music for films and television, worked on sound design, and handled re-recording and dubbing mixes for a range of projects.

Since returning to the UK, he has continued composing, producing and expanding his expertise, including work in Dolby Atmos.

Guiding Creators

With decades of industry experience, Paul is passionate about sharing knowledge and inspiring individuality in his students. He values creative freedom and encourages learners to develop original voices, reminding them that they have something meaningful to contribute to the world.
