Bio
Crafting Worlds in VFX
Eduardo Rodrigues is a Lecturer in Game Art, Animation and VFX at SAE London. A self-taught 3D artist turned industry professional, he brings a hands-on, practical approach to visual effects, animation and digital world-building.
Eduardo’s journey into 3D began at the age of 12, experimenting with AutoCAD on his father’s computer. By the time he was studying for his A levels, he had rediscovered his passion using Cinema 4D, which set him on the path toward a career in the creative industries.
Creative Journey
In 2008, Eduardo enrolled on a Motion Graphics and Animation course in Lisbon, deepening his understanding of the 3D world. Over the following six years, he worked as a self-taught freelance artist on a range of small projects, building practical experience and refining his skills.
Recognising the need for further professional training, he joined SAE London to study 3D Interactive Animation, graduating in 2017.
From Student to Lecturer
After graduating, Eduardo joined SAE as a Campus Support Technician, where he assisted students across different courses and supported the day-to-day technical needs of the campus. During this time, he continued developing his professional portfolio.
He worked as VFX Supervisor and Artist on the independent film Piedra Sola, which was nominated for the Tiger Competition at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. He has also contributed to documentary projects and continues to work on creative productions alongside teaching.
Teaching Approach
Eduardo is passionate about helping students progress quickly and confidently. He believes in practical, hands-on learning, encouraging students to treat their studies like a full-time job and invest time in refining their craft.
He finds the most rewarding part of teaching is watching students grow from complete beginners to producing industry-quality work within a matter of months.
Industry-Focused Learning
At SAE, Eduardo teaches across the full VFX pipeline, from creating CG assets and integrating live action to advanced simulations and colour grading. The course is designed to mirror real industry workflows, preparing students for careers in film, games, advertising and beyond.
