Rheanne Myrie-Formstone
AudioVisionary, Sound Technician & Interdisciplinary Artist
Bio
SAE Liverpool Audio Production alumna Rheanne Myrie-Formstone has built a multifaceted career as what she describes as an “AudioVisionary” – seamlessly blending sound, music, and visuals across live events, recording, and experimental media.
Since graduating in 2022, Rheanne has established herself as a vibrant creative force within Liverpool’s arts and music scene. Working as a sound technician across leading venues including M&S Bank Arena, Unity Theatre, Hope Street Theatre, 24 Kitchen Street, Fortis Studios, and The Tung Auditorium, she has gained a reputation for her technical expertise and artistic versatility.
Her credits span a wide range of high-profile productions, from helping to build Eurovision and providing technical support for the Labour Conference, to setting up stages for Liverpool Sound City and serving as musical director for an original pantomime at Hope Street Theatre.
While sound remains at the heart of her practice, Rheanne’s creative work extends far beyond traditional production roles. Her artistic vision explores feminism, identity, and queerness through bold audiovisual storytelling: a passion realised in her debut visual EP Where Are Your Gods Now, which premiered at FACT Cinema Liverpool in 2023. The project, written, recorded, filmed, edited, and mixed entirely by Rheanne, fuses genre-bending soundscapes with cinematic imagery, establishing her as a rising interdisciplinary artist.
Her work has since been featured on BBC 1Xtra, BBC Introducing, Melodic Radio, RadioLab, and radio networks across Latin America. A multi-instrumentalist, Rheanne’s music draws from Latin, funk, blues, and house influences. She recently completed a year-long piano residency with her blues duo Dusty Echoes at Whisky and Water, and continues to collaborate with UK artists including Rebelyous, Reuben George, DJ Kwale, Alun Parry, Monaé, and Issy Sutcliffe.
Alongside her freelance career, Rheanne has earned two master’s degrees – one in Music and Audiovisual Media and another in Immersive Media – and now teaches undergraduate students at ICMP University, continuing to develop her own recording and visual projects.
Some of Rheanne’s career highlights include:
- Working as a sound technician across major Liverpool venues
- Supporting large-scale events such as Eurovision and the Labour Conference
- Premiering her visual EP Where Are Your Gods Now at FACT Cinema
- Performing as a multi-instrumentalist and musical director in live productions
- Teaching at ICMP University while continuing to expand her creative practice
Rheanne credits SAE Liverpool with helping her refine both her technical and artistic identity. The Audio Production course provided space for experimentation across disciplines, nurturing her ability to merge sound and image into powerful storytelling.
“SAE gave me the confidence and creative freedom to explore the intersection between audio and visual media,” Rheanne explains. “The course encouraged me to experiment, which ultimately shaped my artistic voice.”
Her advice for future SAE students is:
“Stay curious, open-minded, and fearless. Don’t be afraid to step into unfamiliar creative territory, that’s where the breakthroughs happen. The more effort you put in, the more you’ll get out of the experience.”
