Sound In Motion
Dr Tommaso Perego is a Senior Lecturer in Audio Production at SAE London, and a practitioner-researcher working at the intersection of sonic arts, movement and perception. His practice blends artistic experimentation with rigorous research, creating immersive and interactive audio experiences that challenge how audiences listen, feel and move.
Research And Practice
Tommaso develops artistic and research-led projects merging spatial audio, choreography and new technologies, often through collaboration with dance, film, theatre and new media.
Career highlights include:
- Featured Researcher at the British Science Festival (2024) for Song of the Bees, studying movement perception through sound in new media
- Audio Engineering Society (AES) Immersive Audio Conference paper (2019): Multimodality and Audiovisual Perception, exploring spatial audio, Wave Field Synthesis and dance choreography
- Long-term creative collaborations with Silvia Mercuriali, including Macondo, The Eye, Wondermart and I Hear You See Me, premiered internationally
In 2025, Tommaso was invited to present at Sunday Assembly, completed SFHEA certification, and delivered audio design for Chat’s Palace with Silvia Mercuriali, alongside his appointment as Senior Lecturer at SAE.
Creative Philosophy
For Tommaso, creativity is a lifelong process of growth — making new work, asking new questions and discovering new perspectives. His interests span immersive and interactive audio, generative music, experimental composition, sound design for games, and the augmentation of acoustic instruments through software and hardware.

As an educator, Tommaso brings passion, curiosity and openness into the classroom. He supports students in developing both conceptual depth and technical confidence, encouraging them to explore unfamiliar ideas while grounding their work in strong listening, research and experimentation.
