SAE Institute at Amsterdam Dance Event 2017

A few weeks back we were at ADE 2017 and what a great time we had! 3 days filled with workshops, masterclasses and a panel discussion with Dave Clarke, Anthony Rother, Agoria, Rebekah and Matthew Dear.

Check the highlights from this year below.

SAE Panel: Hybrid/Live..The Blurred Lines of Performance

In recent years, the electronic music industry has seen a transition from the standard DJ model to live performance. A number of artists were pushing the limits of live music with innovative customised performance systems. The set-ups varied from a mixture of MIDI controllers, keyboards and outboard synths to drum machines, samplers and electronic drum pads, sometimes even featuring a live musician or vocalist on stage. For this panel, we have put together a lineup of incredible artists such as Dave Clarke, Anthony Rother, Agoria, Matthew Dear and Rebekah; each with a distinct performance style and set-up culminating in a seamless live performance. We discuss what it really takes to move a club; from taking a cut down version from the studio to manipulating the tracks live so they sound fresh.

SAE Masterclass: The Creative Process and Live Performance with Anthony Rother

Anthony Rother (Nextdata, Datapunk) is a true electronic music pioneer best known for his uncompromising sound and seamless 'one-man band' LIVE performance featuring an extensive bundle of gear. Over the years he has collaborated with artists such as Karl Barton Ex-Kraftwerk, Nena, Sven Vath, Tiefschwarz and many more. Anthony Rother will discuss the creative process and live performance featuring a Clavia Nord Modular G2. In the end, individuals from the audience will have a chance to do an informal jam with Anthony.
