Inside The Sync Industry: The Label & Publishing Points Of View

EVENT INFO!
About this event
In this session, Frederique (from Warner Music), and Tara (from peermusic) will provide an insider's look into how music is placed in film, TV, advertising, and games; and how the recording and publishing sides collaborate to make sync deals happen.
Topics will include:
Breaking into the sync world and building a career in music licensing;
Understanding the full sync process, from brief to clearance;
Selecting the right music for a project and negotiating sync fees;
Building relationships with agencies, film producers, and game studios;
What makes a song "syncable" — and how independent artists can increase their chances of getting placed.
About the speakers
For the past decade Frederique Vroom has mainly worked “behind the scenes” on (digitally) setting up, supervising, pitching and promoting music(related projects) at Vevo, Amp.Amsterdam and Virgin Music, among others. Nowadays, Frederique works as Sync Manager for the Benelux market at Warner Music Group, where the main goal is: providing TV series, films, commercials and all other visual projects with the best possible match, musically speaking.
With a background in Arts & Economics and a Master's in Entertainment Law, Tara ten Dam started her career in the legal and publishing departments at Universal Music. Following that, she became intrigued by the then relatively unknown world of neighbouring rights leading to a deeper focus through her work at Global Master Rights. After the acquisition by peermusic, Tara took on a dual role: overseeing the research and catalogue optimization team within neighbouring rights, while also setting up sync and licensing for the publishing division. Today, she continues to work across both areas, combining operational insight with creative problem-solving and a sharp ear for matching music to screen: from sync pitches to handling adaptations, translations, and sample requests.
Whether you’re an aspiring music professional, artist, or just curious about the intersection of music and media, this session offers practical insights into one of the most exciting sectors of the industry.
We look forward to seeing you there!
