The year 2026 at SAE Institute Milan opens with major news: Flavio Nani takes on the role of Academic Director of the Milan Campus. The appointment follows the conclusion, at the end of the 2024/2025 academic year, of Emiliano Alborghetti‘s tenure, who held the position since 2015, making a decisive contribution to the development and international positioning of the Academy.
Emiliano Alborghetti, during his ten-year tenure, guided SAE Institute Milan through a phase of profound growth and transformation. From the move to the new campus in 2013 to the evolution of the international educational offerings, his work strengthened SAE Milan’s role as a benchmark for creative media education, also thanks to the launch of the first Game and Music Business courses.
Backed by extensive past experience in the Italian record industry, as a sound engineer for Milan’s historic Jungle Sound recording studio and the Sugar record label, Emiliano Alborghetti has always put his professional skills at the service of the Academy and its students, also allowing them to take part in projects with highly prominent artists in the Italian scene such as Giovanni Allevi and Le Luci della Centrale Elettrica.
SAE Institute Milan was the first campus in Europe to achieve national accreditation and entry into the Erasmus network, consolidated its institutional recognition by joining CIANS (Italian Coordination of Non-State Academies), and is now part of a network of Italian academies following the acquisition by AD Education.
Taking up the baton is Flavio Nani, a director and producer active in the audiovisual sector, with a long and diverse career spanning advertising, branded content, and cinema, on national and international productions.
Alongside his work as a Film Director & Executive Producer, Flavio Nani has been involved in education for years, a path that has allowed him to develop an educational vision strongly oriented towards project-based learning, multidisciplinarity, and constant dialogue with the creative industry.
In his role as Academic Director, he will work on innovating the educational offerings, developing connections among the faculty, the academy, and the industry, and consolidating cross-functional initiatives between the Film, Audio, Music, and Games departments.
His appointment fits into a vision that aims to keep the academic role deeply connected to the languages, practices, and real dynamics of the creative industry, a historic and distinctive hallmark of SAE Institute, recognized internationally and central to guiding its evolution and innovation.
Within the AD Education international network, his role also extends to strengthening the Academy’s national and international presence, fostering collaboration with other academies in the group in Italy and Europe and driving educational innovation, geared towards real industry dynamics and new market challenges, with a cross-disciplinary and integrated approach aimed at meeting the demands of complex and constantly evolving professional contexts.
