OVERVIEW
The BA/BSc (Hons) Game Art Animation* teaches the production of authentic 3D assets, characters and game worlds, as well as their implementation in different game engines. Using complex tasks from the field of game development, students are enabled to create increasingly complex 3D models and also learn how to optimize them for use on different platforms.
Character animations are created with self-made rigs and finally brought to life by hand animation and animation automatics. By creating games from different genres in team projects, team and project management are taught in a practical way.
The course is designed for students who want to work in the game industry and offers the opportunity to specialize in one of the large areas such as modeling, texturing, character design, animation, product visualization, effects, or rendering. The program consists of two course parts, the renowned and industry recognized SAE Game Art & 3D Animation Diploma, and a Bachelor's part, which provides additional skills and covers areas such as processes in the creative industry, project management, copyright and special techniques from the games industry. The course is completed with an internationally recognised BA/BSc (Hons) in Game Art Animation*, validated by Middlesex University in London.
During the course of study, 5 hours of theory per week are on the curriculum, which - in combination with (recommended) 20 to 25 hours of practice and practice time - leads to the recognised SAE Diploma in 2 years. With a balanced mix of theory and practice, the course offers enough time to work on the side or enables students to gain first practical experience in their future job.
