This is the 19th year of the SAE Awards, our prestigious competition for creative media.
Showcase your projects to the public and get the recognition you deserve!

We invite every SAE Alumni & Student to participate.




The Submission Deadline is the 12th of July!
These are the categories:

ALUMNI CATEGORIES


This category is for music production in a commercially relevant music style.

  • Please submit one track only.
  • Audio Files in .wav format.
  • Optional: Artwork, accompanying video material

 

This category is for audio projects (not music!), such as audio dramas, commercials, film sound, sound design, sound branding, sound libraries, etc. We won’t accept music productions for this category!

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • Audio Files in .wav format.
  • Optional: Artwork, accompanying video material

This category is for movies, short films, music videos, documentaries, TV shows, commercials, etc.

  • Please submit in a common format that can be reviewed by the judging panel with standard equipment.
  • Film files in HD, MP4 format.
  • Optional: Artwork.

 

This category is for VFX projects, including digital 3D images and animations, motion graphics, animated matte paintings, live-action integration, simulation shots, concept art, photorealistic visualizations, etc.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • Film: Files in HD, MP4 format with a VFX breakdown.
  • 3D Art: Turntable and/or trailer, Additional high-resolution stills if suitable.

This category is for games in general, applications/productions which are part of game projects, such as Concept Art, Character/Creature-Design, Environment-Art, Scripts, Shaders, Tools and Plugins.

This category is also suitable for showcasing visualizations, interactive environments, animations, and 2D/3D art.
These entries have to be created for real-time environment projects.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • For games and demos: A short trailer showing the submitted work plus the playable .exe.

 

This category is for any type of web/ internet platform, (mobile) application, new technology project, etc.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • Please submit documentation and a short trailer showing the functionality of the Website/App or the tech project.

 

STUDENT CATEGORIES


This category is for music production in a commercially relevant music style.

  • Please submit one track only.
  • Audio Files in .wav format.
  • Optional: Artwork, accompanying video material.

This category is for any cross-platform project based on technical aspects, content creation and storytelling.
Examples are podcast, photography and video reportage or implemented (multi-channel) project publishing and promotion strategies.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • Concept, documentation and presentation video of the finished project.

 

This category is for any VFX projects. Examples are digital 3D animations, motion graphics, animated matte paintings, live-action integration, simulation shots, etc.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • Film: Files in HD, MP4 format with a VFX breakdown.
  • 3D Art: Turntable and/or trailer, Additional high-resolution stills if suitable.

 

This category is for games or game-related applications where programming was an essential part of the work.

Examples: Games, tools/plug-ins, shaders, demoscene projects, and simulation projects.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • A short trailer showing the submitted work plus the playable .exe.
  • Document the work’s specifics of the programming (this can be submitted in written form or as narration within the trailer).

 

This category is for game art in general, such as concept art, asset presentation, environments, and character/creature art. Examples: games, cut-scenes, interactive/walkable environments, AR/VR/XR projects, game-ready assets (characters, art pieces) etc.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • For games and demos: A short trailer showing the submitted work plus the playable .exe.
  • For environments: A flythrough video and/or the walkable environment as .exe.
  • For assets: Screenshots and breakdown (asset, wireframe, textures), turntable.

 

This category is for any business-related project, such as an artist branding portfolio or the documentation of a self-organized event.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.
  • Concept, documentation and presentation video of the finished project.

 

This category is for any web/ internet platform, (mobile) application, new technology project etc.

  • Please submit in a common format that the judging panel can review with standard equipment.

 

Student & Alumni Awards

Registration

The Submission Deadline is July 12th 2024

Please send a web transfer with your registration and the completed registration form to the president of your alumni chapter. Here is the contact list: Chapter Presidents

We will email you to confirm that we have received your entry and that it has been entered into the competition.

Get a VIP invitation to the Awards Ceremony in Frankfurt/Germany*! Attend the Ceremony and accept the trophy on stage if you are the winner in your category. Travel and accommodation are provided for category winners.

The annual SAE Awards recognise outstanding media productions. Show us your best work and win for yourself and your campus! The Awards have established themselves as a springboard for participants, helping them succeed professionally. Submit your best project and take home one of the coveted trophies!

The SAE Awards ceremony will take place at the SAE Awards Gala on 23rd October 2024 in Frankfurt, Germany.
The video premiere of the show will take place the following day on YouTube.
