The SAE Institute has been offering the globally successful Qantm course in Vienna and will now strengthen its’ resources as well as the connections to the gaming industry by taking over the Interactive Media Academy (IMA). The IMA was founded by Dr. Niki Laber, the President of the Austrian Association for Entertainment Software and former founder of Rockstar Vienna, and Thomas Schweitzer, CTO of Plazz Entertainment AG. Both look back on decades of experience in the field of computer and video game development on an international level. The IMA has been extending their knowledge and their experience to the next generation, with the help of docents who are renowned in the industry.
The IMA will be integrated into the SAE Institute Vienna in the fall of 2010. This will immediately begin to enrich the current Qantm Interactive Entertainment course and focus the gaming education even more effectively with current topics. This enables the students to learn in a more authentic environment, relative to their future professional careers.
Dr. Niki Laber commented the following about the merger: “The SAE Groups’ many years of experience in teaching as well as the infrastructure of this global market leader offer excellent educational possibilities for us and our students. The international approach of the SAE Group in particular is a deciding factor in times of globalization, especially in our field“.
„The professional know-how and the close cooperation of the IMA present a major improvement for our gaming courses,“ explained Barbara Skoda, the director of the SAE Institute in Vienna.
