SAE London: Creative Futures Panel - An Applicant Discovery Evening

SAE Institute invites September 2019 applicants to our ‘Creative Futures’ panel event at SAE London on Thursday 4 July 2019. The panel will feature expert speakers from across the creative disciplines we teach at SAE London: Animation, Web, Film, Audio, Games Programming and Music Business.

You'll hear from industry experts answering questions on their day to day work, asking their opinion on the latest industry trends and technological developments and hearing what they anticipate will affect the lives of young creatives that are about to take the first steps in their careers.

THE PANEL

Sam Wickens - Audio Panelist

Sam Wickens graduated from SAE London in 2016, and now works for Capital FM as part of their Audio Production team. What started out as a three-month internship is now a lifelong career for the Audio Production Assistant. The up and coming producer has been with Capital for a year now, working as part of the team who produce the sweepers, top of hours, branded intros and much more for the Capital FM network and Capital XTRA. Sam has worked backstage at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball and Summertime Ball, creating content and production that is heard by over eight million people in the UK.

Sam also won the BENZTOWN's 7th annual Iron Imager contest in 2018.

Nicholas Brown - Film Panelist

Nick is a Camera Operator/Editor who's worked with artists such as Jammer and Riton and brands such as Lexus as well as on many short films including one that got into Sundance last January and dozens of other respected film festivals worldwide.

He also has produced his own short films and co-runs Rosegold Group, a multi media production house which produces films, music videos, adverts, online content and documentaries along with Shayo Three who founded the company.

Shayo Three - Film Panelist

Shayo Three is a musician/director/editor who's worked with Skepta, Davido and Dappy and produced a number of documentaries including one on Boko Haram which premiered at the BFI. He received the Audio Certificate and a BA in Digital Filmmaking from SAE as well as an MA in Music Business from UWL.

He founded Rosegold Group, a media production house which produces films, music videos, adverts, online content and documentaries as well as Alte Daily, an online platform that promotes alternative African culture through original content and external content.

Francesca Pesce - Animation Panelist

Born in Italy, Francesca attended a master in CG at the Big Rock institute in Treviso.  After finishing her studies in 2009 she briefly worked in Rome for a CG studio as a generalist for documentaries aired on the national TV channel. She then moved to London to work as a freelancer for various projects but mostly on medical animations. 

As she has always been passionate about animation, in 2013 she started working at Blue Zoo animation studio, to work on a TV series for children as a compositor.  She later moved to different roles: modelling and texture artist, cloth simulation artist, and finally lighter and compositor.

In the past two years she has been supervising a team of lighter/ compositors and 2D FX artists for the preschool TV show GoJetters (season 2 and 3).

ShaoDow - Music Business Panelist

ShaoDow (Shaa-ow-dough) is a professional rapper, manga author and possible ninja.   Equipped with a law degree and having studied Shaolin Kung Fu in China, ShaoDow utilises the tenacity and determination he learned from his martial arts training to independently forge his music career.

It’s little wonder ShaoDow scooped the 2017 AIM Award for Hardest Working Artist – he has self-released three albums, which have sold more than 25,000 copies, created a headphones brand and published a manga book through his own company, DiY Gang Entertainment. The London-born artist makes a full-time living from his music, manga and merchandise and has even appeared on ITV’s Ninja Warrior UK. He was recently invited into Parliament to speak on behalf of grassroots music venues across the country.

ShaoDow has opened for the likes of Wiley, Ghetts, Stormzy, Skepta and more, while his live shows have taken him across the UK, Europe and Asia. A truly unique Fire in the Booth with Charlie Sloth is the jewel in the crown of a plethora of radio shows, including Radio 1, 1xtra and BBC 6 Music.

Erik di Biase - Games Programming Panelist

Recently graduated student, now game developer currently working for Gamar Ltd focusing on AR development for smartphones and Hololens devices using Unity's powerful tools.

Natacha Poletti - Web Panelist

Natacha Poletti is a Client Integration Engineer at CONVERSANT, a leading digital marketing company based in Putney. She graduated with a Bachelor's (BSc) First Class (Hons) Degree in Web Development from SAE Institute London in 2018. An all-round creative, Natacha is also a freelance web developer and photographer.

Hailing from Geneva, Switzerland, her approachability and humility has always made others seek out her expertise and advise on matters pertaining to web design and programming.
