After successfully gaining an internship in a studio and getting a real taste for Pro-Tools, David Donaldson knew that his calling was to enter the world of sound engineering.

Since graduating from SAE Institute, he has let his passion for pushing the creative boundaries of sound creation to set new standards for the audio industry. Clocking up an impressive amount of studio hours and working across multiple productions, he gained enough experience in a short time to ensure that his imagination is always being called upon to work alongside others in the industry.

Receiving a well-deserved Grammy in 2004 for his work on the biopic Ray, his presence in the industry was cemented and he has continued to work across Hollywood.

Recently describing working with Craig Armstrong on The Great Gatsby as “an artistic and musical journey like no other”, David is a true example of just how far you can push your personal career journey by starting off at SAE Institute.

“I wanted to know everything about a studio from the ground up, SAE ignited the spark that drove me to where I am today. Work hard, put in the hours, network as hard as you can and do things that scare you. It’s all very well to polish skills, but in order to progress them it’s all about how you grow; if your work is not scaring you slightly it’s probably not worth doing.”
