Recently joining the team as a Filmmaker, Jack will be working on a wide range of productions from the early prep stage right through to final online delivery, putting all the skills that he’s learnt at SAE to good use.
With plenty of technical knowledge, practical skills and industry experience, as well as having a Digital Film Production degree from SAE Glasgow, Jack certainly impressed the Tanami team when he sent in his application. Jemma Goba, Founder and Managing Partner of Tanami comments on how Jack impressed them:
“With SAE graduate Craig Dorrall in the Tanami team already, we understand what a great foundation that course gives any aspiring filmmaker. We were impressed with Jack's international filming experience and his in-depth understanding of filming techniques and technologies. We like his enthusiasm to learn new skills too - that's really important to us here.”
It was also vital to the team that their new recruit had both practical skills and a “good eye”, and Jack certainly fit the bill. His vibrant Instagram feed added to his already impressive skill set as it demonstrated his creative flair and exceptional photography.
It was also certainly an advantage that Jack had studied at SAE Glasgow, just like his now colleague, Craig Dorrall who is the Video Production Manager. Craig has had a fantastic career since leaving SAE, having worked all over the world before joining Tanami.
“The hands-on nature of the Digital Film Production course means that students are acquainted with the dynamics of production and well equipped to handle the more practical elements of the industry”, Jemma explains.
Now part of the hard working team of six, Jack has already completed his first shoot which was for one of Tanami’s big clients, Red Bull. Filming a day in the life of the Wings team in Edinburgh, Jack used a glidecam to follow the action and rigged the iconic Red Bull Minis with GoPros for some interesting footage on the go.
Commenting on his time at Tanami so far, Jack said:
"I certainly feel like I've had to hit the ground running and that's the best way to start any new job! My first two shoots were completely different to one another but equally as enjoyable and I can't wait to get started on the edits. It's a really exciting time at Tanami with plenty of new client wins so I'm feeling incredibly positive about 2018 and beyond!"
Next up, the team will be doing some really exciting work for a large pharmaceutical company, which will involve them travelling all over Europe. On top of this, there’s also plenty of other ongoing work with other clients in financial services and sport, which means that there really is never a dull moment.
With plenty of interesting trips and big client collaborations to look forward to, the future looks really exciting for Jack with Tanami. Jemma and the team are looking forward to seeing him develop his skills and continue learning about new filming and photography techniques.
“Collaborating with some of the best in the industry on a wide variety of projects, there will be ample opportunity for Jack to expand upon the foundations set at SAE,” Jemma says.
