SAE EXTRA: Underground Jam. Event for Game Programmers who love to write code!

09 Dec 2017
10:00 to 17:00
09 Dec

SAE Institute London is delighted to invite you to Underground Jam!

This event is a get together of Game Programmers who love to write code!

We want to group together like-minded individuals with the intention to build an entire game from the ground up. This means - no pre-built engines allowed!

What we are trying to work towards here is for a whole bunch of game programmers to bring their own existing game engines, or parts that they have sweated long and hard over, and put them to good use - kind of like taking your car for a test underground street race. The event will also allow everyone involved to work together!
This is intended to be the first of many events. We hope that after a few of these we can actually put a full game together.

So...if this appeals to you and you have any of the below skills or a wish to learn any of the below skills, please join us on Saturday 9 December!

Don't worry if you don't have a fully fledged game engine or if you are not familiar with ALL of the below concepts. As long as you have a passion to create large code bases, a passion to write code, spend countless hours looking for bugs and a very high tolerance for bad programming jokes, then please do still join us!

Desired skills are:

  • C++
  • The STL
  • Graphics programming (OpenGL/SDL)
  • Audio programming (FMOD / WWise)
  • Gameplay programming
  • UI programming
  • Win32 application programming (YUCK!)
  • Physics/AI/PGC/Collision systems
  • Game system design
  • Good maths skills
  • Data driven design
  • Game scripting
  • Visual Studio

Please note : This is a BYOC (Bring your own computer) event!
