The much anticipated announcement follows the publication of new government figures, which reveal the creative industries are continuing to outstrip other employment sectors in the UK. Since 2011, the number of jobs has risen nearly 20 per cent to 1.9 million, doubling the wider UK economy.
Commenting on the figures in an official statement, Minister for Culture Ed Vaizey said,“Growing at almost twice the rate of the wider economy and worth a staggering £84 billion a year, our Creative Industries are well and truly thriving and we are determined to ensure its continued growth and success”
The government is also predicting 2016 to be another stellar year for the sector with the next instalment of Poldark, the new album from Radiohead, the film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG, and the release of Lego Marvel’s Avengers.
Students looking for financial assistance to pursue a creative career, will be eligible to apply for SAE’s scholarships before the deadline of 28 July 2017.
