An innovative online Masters Programme launched by SAE Institute is creating an expert, innovative community of media professionals.
The Master of Professional Practice (MPP) is a flexible, innovative programme which is uniquely tailored to a professional media practitioner’s interest and work. The MPP can be undertaken over a period of one (full-time) or two (part-time) years. It has been developed for early career professionals with a Bachelor degree or for expert professionals without a degree but with 5+ years industry experience who want to take advantage of their professional experience to move their work and career to the next level.
Current students on the programme are completing innovative media projects over a wide range of creative media fields such as documentary filmmaking, interactive animation and applied media knowledge app designs.
Pierre Guersing, Head of Audio/Visual Service at Chambre de Commerce in Luxembourg commented:
"My MPP project lies in a subtle mix between Sponsored Short Movies and Nation Branding. I’m trying to produce a short movie with a nice story that would be effective in promoting a country without having too much ‘Nation Branding’ stamping. The concept of online studying suits my situation perfectly. With an already full professional and family life, the MPP allows me access to further study."
Tim Kitevski who works as an Animation professional in Australia enrolled on the programme to further develop his knowledge and expertise to help enhance the student experience. He commented:
"With over six years of industry experience in video games and interactive technology, I wanted to further push my skills within practice to formalise through a structured, articulated project to open up career opportunities and become a more refined educator."
"SAE as a global media educator is pioneering the MPP programme as a way of addressing the needs for professionals to advance their careers in a global workspace to meet the needs of a dynamic, innovative global industry."
Chief Academic Officer for SAE, Dr Raf Marcellino comments on how SAE are leading the way in providing the creative industry with a tailor made programme:
Dr Greg White, Programme Co-ordinator commented:
"The new MA/MSc recognises innovative practice in much the same way as a traditional Master’s by Research. Leaders in the creative industries now have the opportunity to formalise their professional learning with an academic qualification."
