SAE London and Oxford were excited to welcome international DJ and Producer Nomine this month to deliver an SAE Extra Electronic Music Workflow Masterclasses to Audio Production students.
Nomine (aka Andrew Ferguson), has 20 years of experience in writing, producing and engineering music.
Since 1995, he has held down a variety of positions in the UK’s dance music community, from running his own pirate radio station and label to touring as a DJ and producing music. Self-taught in all aspects, Andrew experienced the highs and lows of the music industry and left it all behind before returning in recent years with a renewed vigor and desire to simply express himself.
Nomine commented on the experience: "I had a fantastic time and I felt like the students really engaged with the masterclass."
"I think SAE Extra is a great initiative. I believe first-hand knowledge from people who are active in the industry is essential. Particularly, when it's constantly changing and evolving fast."
"I'm just blown away by the facilities here."
Second year Audio Production student Sheldon Herron commented on what he gained from the masterclass:
“The lecture was very useful. It was great to see someone breaking down and cutting out all of the stuff in audio production that gets lost in translation. So in a sense it kind of simplified production as a whole for me.
Nomine gave us some excellent tips on how to produce good base and kicks in our tracks. Overall, it was great to hear from someone working in the industry and to have an insight into the production process that didn’t necessarily rely solely on theory as not everyone in the industry comes from that background.”
