SAE Extra Masterclass with Michael Berliner
SAE Institute London welcomed Film Producer Michael Berliner to talk about his career and offer advice on breaking into the business. Michael is an independent producer who has made 14 award-winning shorts through his company Pico Pictures since 2008. These include four for the UK Film Council and one a piece for BBC HD, BBC Writersroom and one of the new high budget BFI Shorts. This Summer, his debut feature Adult Life Skills came out in cinemas after its world premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York. It was a £550k film backed by Creative England.

SAE Extra Masterclass with BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award winning Director Michael J Ferns
Michael’s exclusive guest talk provided an insight into directing across multiple mediums, including both advertising and broadcast entertainment television. Michael J Ferns is a 25 year-old BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award winner and nominated director who has been shooting, directing and editing films since he was 12 years old. Michael studied film production at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before moving down to London where he has directed content and commercials for brands like Boots, Toni & Guy, Arla, The Body Shop and RBS. In his two hour Masterclass, Oscar Clark, Author of Games As A Service explored the nature of creativity as it applies to games design. He demonstrated that we are all creative and that it by treating both the process of development and the player experience as a journey we might just make better games. Oscar has been in the games industry since 1998, and has been involved with marketing, game design, development, launch and operations of numerous market leading games services and technologies. He has been involved in different capacities in notable projects from BT's Wireplay, 3UK, NVIDIA, PlayStation Home and is an Evangelist at Unity Technologies.
SAE Extra Screenwriting Masterclass with Neal Romanek
SAE Institute was delighted to invite students, alumni, applicants and members of the public to a guest lecture 'Architecting the Universe: how to build a storyworld' with Neal Romanek. Neal is the current editor of TV Technology Europe and an accomplished screenwriter, who has developed TV and film narratives for Joel Silver (The Matrix), Lisa Henson (Lethal Weapon, Batman and Batman Returns) and the legendary Dino De Laurentiis (King Kong).
